Fellow SCS Students,
Thank you all for your patience and cooperation with respect to the quickly changing situation regarding coronavirus/COVID-19. Please refer to the following website for the most up to date information from the University and the Ministry of Education’s recommendations. We suggest you bookmark this page. https://mcgill.ca/coronavirus/
You may already be aware that in order to evaluate how ongoing coronavirus announcements from the Quebec government will impact campus operations and academic activities, the University is suspending classes and exams on Friday, March 13 and the McGill School of Continuing Studies has also cancelled tomorrow’s Saturday classes. As a further precaution, all on-campus events likely to attract more than 250 participants, effective now through to Sunday, March 15 are cancelled.
MACES Building and Activities
The MACES building is closed, effective Saturday, March 14 for two weeks. Although MACES events had been planned for the rest of the term, we will update you on if these activities will go ahead as planned as more information is released by the University.
If you have any questions, please contact maces@mail.mcgill.ca.
Symptoms
Many of the symptoms of novel coronavirus infection (such as fever, cough and difficulty breathing) are indistinguishable from those of seasonal influenza.
If you have these symptoms and are unsure whether to seek medical attention, please call Info Santé (811) for advice. If you do not have a family doctor, we advise you to call Info Santé (811), where a qualified health care professional will advise you on next steps.
Precautions
It’s is a good idea to practice health precautions to further reduce risk:
- Wash your hands often with soap under warm running water for at least 20 seconds
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer only if soap and water are not available
- When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with your arm to reduce the spread of germs
- If you use a tissue, dispose of it as soon as possible and wash your hands afterwards.
