Access Support

Start off by getting familiar with the McGill Family Care website, which has loads of information on family care geared towards the McGill community.

If you have specific concerns, speaking with someone directly can be the best route. At McGill, a Family Resources Coordinator that connects student caregivers to resources city-wide. They can be contacted at family.coordinator@mcgill.ca or 514-398-5645.

Breastfeeding Spaces

If you are enrolled in a graduate program at the School, you have access to a Nursing Room at Thompson House – a quiet spot with rocking chairs and blankets. If not, you can visit the SSMU Building student lounge on the ground floor – it’s breastfeeding friendly! Did you know you can also go to Union for Gender Empowerment Office in room 413 of the SSMU building to breastfeed at any time? Just ask the Family Resources Coordinator for the code.

Take Care of Your Health and Manage Stress

Did you know you may be eligible for accommodations due to the specific challenges caregiving brings? You can consult this guide to see what you might qualify for during your time at McGill.
