Job Posting: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Position: Part-time (20-25 hours/week, schedule flexible)

Compensation: $18-$20/hr

Summary

Under the direction of the MACES Board of Directors, the Chief Operating Officer’s role is to oversee the day-to-day operations manage the Association’s activities, functions, and services, in addition to serving as the Building Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Working directly with the Board of Directors in executing strategic plans, initiatives and managing the Association’s activities;
  • Assisting in the preparation and management of the Association’s operational budget with the VP Financial Affairs and overseeing the annual financial audit;
  • Developing and implementing internal controls, policies, and procedures;
  • Ensuring the Associations’ compliance with government regulated and University policies and procedures;
  • Event management – assisting with the planning and management of events, securing alcohol permits for events on campus, in addition to other tasks assigned;
  • Responsible for the Board elections and referenda and oversees the activities of the CRO and electoral process to ensure a degree of separation from the current executive board;
  • Contact with the public and students, answering questions regarding services, information about the Association and directing them to the right resources pertaining to on-campus services;
  • HR- recruitment, training, and supervision of staff and contractors, payroll, etc.…
  • Coordination with the University’s administrative and service departments.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a management/supervisory role;
  • Strong attention to detail and superior organizational skills;
  • Customer service oriented with highly developed interpersonal communication skills;
  • Proven skills in managing projects and prioritizing deadlines.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to take charge, fostering teamwork, and drive change;
  • Experience with social media and WordPress an asset
  • Fully fluent in English (written & verbal); French is an asset.
  • Current McGill SCS student preferred
