MACES (McGill Association of Continuing Education Students) is a student association representing learners and the community of the School of Continuing Studies at McGill University. Its focus is to provide a supportive network and community for SCS learners. Its mission is to represent the interests of SCS learners and promote their well-being. The association aims to build connections between students and provide opportunities for personal and professional growth. Through various initiatives and events, MACES aims to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all SCS learners.

MACES is seeking a part-time, freelance, Social Media Coordinator to assist in raising awareness among students regarding the association and its offerings. Additionally, increasing engagement across  Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The ideal candidate will have experience in social media management and a strong understanding of best practices for content creation and audience engagement. This position offers flexible hours and the opportunity to work remotely.

Working closely with the VP Communications and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) you will:

  • Create content that is relevant to our members: the students and alumni of the McGill School of Continuing Studies;
  • Plan and schedule posts/stories about services, events, and related announcements;
  • Create engagement campaigns for new services, elections, and referendums;
  • Increase engagement across channels (likes, comments, shares, story views, new followers, etc.);
  • Engage with the community and comment on posts from other accounts;
  • Follow new accounts; respond to DM’s, re-share stories;
  • Attend MACES events, as necessary.

The ideal candidate:

  • Proven experience managing multiple social media channels and creating strategic content;
  • Excellent writing skills in English required (French an asset);
  • Background in social media, content creation, and marketing preferred;
  • Proficiency with Photoshop/Illustrator/Canva or similar tools;
  • Preference will be given to current McGill SCS students and alumni.
